Mother's Day Getaways!

Mother’s Day is Sunday and what mom doesn’t want to get away for a little bit with a special trip? Use this weekend to remind mom that she’s more than just a mother, she’s also a person who had a whole life before you were born! Whether it’s coffee or wine, art museums or live music, hiking or historical landmarks, we’ve got some affordable options for you!

For the mama that needs a getaway focused on wellness, take her to Sedona, AZ! The red rock scenery and vegetation spark creativity energy and this city is full of yoga centers, spas, and meditation sites that visitors claim leave them feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. Book one of numerous quaint AirBnbs, stop in at a number of local eateries and cafes like the Wildflower Bread Company, and head to Son Silver West for quirky souvenirs.

For the history lovers, check out San Antonio, TX or Savannah, GA. San Antonio was first settled in 1731 and still holds onto a lot of the Mexican and Spanish culture that it was born from. Remains of the 18th-century Spanish structures can still be seen throughout the city, though the modern day River Walk and local shops keep it anything from feeling old.

Savannah, Georgia is full of historical stops dating back to the 1700’s. The Wormsloe Historic Site is Georgia’s oldest plantations, originally built in 1736 and is surrounded by a scenic nature trail and also houses its own museum! Not only is Savannah packed with historic landmarks, it also houses a haunted history: perfect for our ghost-hunting moms!

Over on the west coast, Healdsburg, CA is your stop for the wine aficionado. Surrounded by vineyards and beautiful scenery, Healdsburg offers scenic nature trails for hiking and biking, gardens, and the redwoods. Reconnect with the outdoors while tasting the food and wine of the area.

Raleigh, NC is our top pick for our more artsy moms on the east coast. Not only is it home to a number of art museums, but also musicians, operas, ballet, theater, and more! If your mother wants to be awed by performance art, this is your stop! This city will also satisfy the urge for spas, romantic dining, and unique experiences like local wineries and chocolate shop.

Of course, we can’t wrap up without talking about our very own state and the things you can do in Arkansas! Rent a cabin in the Ozarks and spend time fishing, hiking, and exploring our beautiful natural state. Head over to northwest Arkansas for Crystal Bridges, a museum dedicated to the celebration of American art surrounded by 120 acres of lush forests. Check out local music and theater throughout the state, in small cafes to large venues. Soak in historic Hot Springs bathhouses or visit Little Rock’s Central High Museum where the Little Rock Nine made history!

Wherever you decide to take mom this weekend, be safe, check your route and the weather in advance, and remember that Interstate Signways is with you guiding the whole way!
